Electricity restored everywhere in Brittany but no internet

And there was light ! More than a month after the passage of storm Ciaran, a few dozen homes were still without power in Brittany, living as if cut off from the world. Their ordeal has just come to an end with the restoration of power in recent days for all these castaways, indicates Enedis.

The day after the storm, which caused considerable damage to the electricity network, 780,000 customers were plunged into darkness. To repair the damage, by rebuilding 1,000 kilometers of lines and changing 8,000 poles, 2,400 Enedis agents from all over France have taken turns in the field for a month, particularly in Finistère which was the most impacted department.

30,000 Breton households still deprived of internet

With power restored, a new stage has just started for the electricity network manager who will now carry out a consolidation phase for four months. “This process first involves carrying out an exhaustive inventory of the electricity network,” explains Enedis. This is diagnostic work, carried out by experts, who examine the repairs carried out urgently and evaluate the consolidation and reinforcement work which is necessary for the continuation of the operations and before the reconstruction phase. »

If the candles have been put away in the drawers, 30,000 Breton households nevertheless remain deprived of internet and landline telephony, including 15,000 Orange customers. Contacted, the operator indicates “that the vast majority have service continuity solutions via the mobile network. » However, they will have to be patient before returning to normal. “Deadlines today vary between a few days to a few months,” specifies Orange.
