Electricity in Bavaria: Tennet shows the planned route of the Jura line – Bavaria

The network operator Tennet announced the exact route for the new construction of the so-called Jura line in Bavaria on Wednesday. On a website Those interested can see the electricity pylons planned so far and the route near residential buildings, as a spokeswoman for Tennet in Bayreuth announced.

The Jura line runs around 170 kilometers from the Fürth district in Middle Franconia to a substation near Landshut in Lower Bavaria. The power lines that have existed since the 1940s are to be replaced by a new, more efficient route. In the future, the electricity will flow through the new lines at a voltage of 380 kilovolts instead of the current 220 kilovolts. This requires heavier cables and new electricity pylons. The old route will then be dismantled.

There was repeated resistance at the local level to the planned route and the new, higher electricity pylons. The planning phase for the project is currently underway. According to Tennet, the planning approval documents should be submitted by mid-2024. The construction of the new Jura pipeline is scheduled to be completed by 2030.

The new Jura line is intended to help secure the future electricity supply in Bavaria by bringing electricity from renewable sources – currently mainly wind power electricity from the north – to the south.
