Italy wants to largely lift its corona restrictions in the cultural sector. The “Green Pass” is required. The Scientific Council has given the government a corresponding line.

The following applies to museums in Italy: They should be able to allow 100 percent visitors in again. So far only half is possible. In the future, open-air theaters and cinemas will also be able to fill their seats 100 percent again; indoors, the maximum occupancy will be increased to 80 percent. It is a return to almost normalcy in the Italian cultural scene, which the Scientific Council is proposing to the government. The government itself had asked that the scientists propose a line. A corresponding cabinet decision should be made this week.

“Green Pass” as a requirement

The decree should also allow a higher utilization of the football stadiums. In the future, 75 percent of the places are to be released. The prerequisite for both cultural and sporting events in Italy is that visitors can present the so-called “Green Pass” – as proof that they have been vaccinated, recovered or currently tested at least once. The distance rules must also be observed during the events and museum visits.

Above all, Italy’s minister of culture, Dario Franceschini, advocated the easing. Museums and theaters are “safe places,” said the social democratic politician.

Cultural associations have criticized, among other things, that discos and clubs have not yet been relaxed. In principle, you are allowed to open; dancing is still not allowed.
