Driving – VW is negotiating with Huawei – economy

According to a media report, Volkswagen is in talks with Huawei about buying the Chinese group’s autonomous driving division. Negotiations have been going on for months, the report said manager magazine on Thursday, citing stakeholders. The price under discussion is between a low and a high single-digit billion amount. The Huawei subsidiary employs 700 people. Among them are around 50 absolutely top-class specialists. Neither VW nor Huawei commented on the speculation, but it is credible: Volkswagen is currently trying to catch up with robot technology. The technology group Huawei is best known for digital devices, such as cell phones or computer screens – and for network technology. In this area, however, there have been major concerns about products in recent years: politicians in Western countries fear espionage back doors in Chinese technology.
