Police shoot dead 16-year-old boy armed with knife
In Dortmund, a youth was fatally wounded by several police shots. The background is still unclear, it is known so far that the 16-year-old is said to have attacked the officers with a knife.
A 16-year-old was fatally injured by one or more shots by police officers in Dortmund on Monday. The youth had previously attacked the officers with a knife, said a police spokesman. There was initially no further information on the precise background to the police operation.
The police were called to Holsteiner Strasse around 4:25 p.m. Officers used the firearm, the police spokesman said. It was initially unclear how many shots were fired and whether several police officers fired. The 16-year-old was seriously injured and died a little later during an emergency operation.
For reasons of neutrality, the investigations are no longer carried out by the Dortmund police, but by the Recklinghausen police.
