The HSV Hamburg handball players are without a license for the coming season. The club has lodged an objection.

The handball players at HSV Hamburg don’t have any Receive license for the upcoming Bundesliga season. The independent licensing commission of the Handball Bundesliga refused to grant HSV permission to play for the 2024/25 season because the Hamburg team had not provided the required proof of economic performance on time, the HBL announced.

The eighth place in the table lodged an appeal against this decision in a timely and formal manner. This is submitted to the HBL Executive Board for further decision. “We are sure that we have met the condition,” said HSV managing director Sebastian Frecke. If the license is refused, the people of Hamburg can still appeal to the association’s internal arbitration tribunal.

If HSV’s license were to be revoked, coach Torsten Jansen’s team would be relegated. In this case, only the bottom team in the Bundesliga would have to go into the second division. Table 17. would remain in the upper house.

The league association had only granted Hamburg the license for the 2024/25 series on the condition that a significant liquidity gap could be proven to be closed by Friday (12 p.m.). The HBL said this did not happen by the end of the deadline.
