His penis cures cancer – with this bizarre claim an Italian gynecologist tried to persuade women to have sex. Now he has been arrested.

He was caught red-handed: Dr. Giovanni M. was in the process of undressing in a hotel room to get into bed with a pretty patient when the camera team entered the room. M. had fallen into an investigative format, the young woman was an actress. And she had moved him to do exactly what other women had accused him of doing: M. had promised to be able to cure cancer with his penis.

The investigative format team “Le Iene” (the hyenas) became aware of the attacking doctor after a complaint from a patient. Anna Maria, 33, visited the 68-year-old gynecologist because she was having problems getting pregnant. At the first attempt, she found the doctor unprofessional, she reported to “La Repubblica”. He grabbed her breast without explanation and told her that he preferred small breasts. When she returned to his practice to get the results of a test he had recommended for the cancer-causing human papillomavirus, the shock came: He offered to cure her supposed cancer – by having sex with her. Anna Maria, who had recorded the conversation on the advice of a lawyer, fell from the clouds. And sent the recording to “Le Iene”.

Unprotected sex as a miracle cure

Investigative magazine didn’t hesitate. Using their decoy, the journalists quickly managed to establish contact with the doctor. He didn’t wait long for his scam. He discovered white spots on her cervix, he told the committed actress, it could be a sign of cancer. Fortunately, he knows a healing method: You have to have sex with a “vaccinated” man in order to be immunized, according to the doctor. And praised himself straight away. At the hotel he repeated the claim and, when asked about contraception, emphasized that none of his antibodies would then be transferred. Sex must be unprotected so that his “Magic Flute” can have its effects. “I have already protected many women from cancer, everyone with whom I had contact were negative afterwards,” he boasted before the door finally opened.

In the meantime, the doctor has been arrested, several media reports unanimously. He is accused of having sexually coerced his patients. At least 15 other women affected are said to have reported to the police since the case became known. Not all of them were ready to file a complaint because they feared negative consequences for themselves. A doctor in training has also confirmed the allegations, she feared repression by the doctor and was therefore silent beforehand.

The doctor himself does not seem to be aware of any guilt. “I do it for my studies to help people,” he countered the camera team. Through his lawyer, he also had the media informed that he had “successfully treated hundreds of women over a period of 40 years and only offered an alternative treatment that has been proven to deliver results.” He also stressed that he never forced women to act and always gave them the choice. Whether this will protect him from punishment remains to be seen: the public prosecutor has ordered an investigation against him. They cannot hope for the doctor as a source of clarification: According to the investigators, he refused to testify during a questioning.
