Man is threatened from all sides, big and small. A virus plague keeps the world in suspense, climate change is heating up the planet, hurricanes are raging. And then there are also chronic risks lurking in everyday life – too little sleep, too much stress, hardly any exercise – and that with poor iron levels. Culture critics and technology skeptics have long identified the greatest villains among the dangers of civilization: mobile phones, tablets, PCs and the like. These insidious end devices take people’s attention, rob them of their sleep and leave them lonely despite company. Use in the evening in bed is particularly harmful. If I think of my mobile phone at night, I’m deprived of sleep, Heinrich Heine would probably write poetry today.
