Morning Live presenter Kym Marsh shared her heartbreak on social media today following the sad death of a much-loved pet.

The Waterloo Road actress took to Instagram to update her 605,000 followers on the devastating news.

The BBC star shared a sweet picture of her pet dog Barney, who has sadly died.

Paying tribute to the King Charles spaniel, Kym wrote: “Had to say goodbye to our beautiful boy Barney.

“We will miss you so much mate. Best dog ever. My heart is broken,” she added with a broken heart emoji.

Kym’s followers quickly flooded the comments section with messages of support.

Morning Live’s Dr James Greenwood penned: “Sending you so much love darling, it’s the hardest and worst part.

“You’re an amazing dog-mum and a true animal lover. something someone said to me – nothing loved is ever lost, their memory lives on forever in our hearts.

“Sleep well Barney boy, sending all my love,” he added.

“Noooo so sorry,” commented Author Zoe Clark-Coates, while musician Nick Celino wrote: “My heart’s broken, thinking of you all.”

“Oh no, I’m so sorry for your loss! Sending big hugs to you all,” Kelly penned.

“So sorry for your loss I feel your pain. Run free Barney,” Leanne commented.

Julie wrote: “We lost our King Charles cavalier too, they are the kindest souls. They break your heart. Sorry for your loss.”

The presenter captioned the sweet selfie: “Happy national dog day!!! My boy Barney. Love him so much.”

Kym rose to fame in 2001 with the girl band Hear’Say alongside Myleene Klass, Danny Foster, Suzanne Shaw, and Noel Sullivan.

She then went on to play Michelle Connor on the ITV soap opera Coronation Street between 2006 and 2019.

She has co-fronted BBC One’s Morning Live with Gethin Jones since 2020 and has also appeared as a key character in the revival of BBC school drama Waterloo Road since 2022.
