Dog ‘abandoned in pram’ by owner after airport staff refused to let it on flight | US | News

A heartbroken dog has been abandoned in an airport car park by its cruel owner who dumped the pooch after they were told they couldn’t take it on their flight.

The unnamed French Bulldog was found abandoned in a stroller in the short-stay area of the Pittsburgh International Airport car park on Friday morning around 5:30 am.

The dog’s owner reportedly abandoned her adorable pooch after she falsely claimed it was an emotional support dog.

Officials didn’t believe her and said the Frenchie would need to be transported in a crate.

Police said the owner then decided to get on her flight without the dog – and left it “unattended in a stroller on airport property” instead.

In a Facebook post, the Allegheny County Police Department said: “Officers were able to locate a microchip on the animal but attempts to reach the owner were unsuccessful. Investigators learned the dog’s owner was told by airline officials the dog needed to be placed in a crate in order to fly.

“The investigation revealed the owner then abandoned the dog near short-term parking and proceeded to board a flight.

“County police contacted the state dog warden to safely turn over the dog. A charge of animal abandonment is expected to be filed against the owner by the state dog warden.”

Local Sgt Jason Donaldson also told WTAE-TV that the owner pretended her dog was an emotional support animal when she arrived at security.

The owner could now face a fine of up to $1,000 if convicted of abandoning her dog.

Reacting to pictures of the heartbroken French Bulldog posted on social media, local Kathy Anne said: “I’m thinking the dog is better off with a new owner. Poor baby.”

Tom Kaye added: “I hope karma catches up with that person fast.” Others even offered to take the pooch home with them.

“I’ll come get him today!” Brooke Rollins said. Kathrin Modic added: “I live an hour from pitt. I’ll take him.”

Another commenter said: “Kudos to you guys for coming to the rescue! Here’s going the pup finds a good home with caring, kind and intelligent people.”
