Demo in Leipzig: Left protests against the government’s crisis policy – politics

Gregor Gysi is a charismatic speaker. He is used to the fact that many people want to listen to him. But when he climbs onto the small stage on Leipzig’s Augustusplatz on Monday evening, even he seems to be surprised by the sight that awaits him: thousands of people are standing there, waving the red flags of the Left Party, holding up banners and filming the performance of the member of parliament with the mobile phones. “I am pleased that my party is able to organize such demonstrations again.” He almost didn’t think that was possible anymore, says Gysi in his very own dry manner.
