Who says small cars have to look like confirmation suits? Shrinkable limousines in mouse gray metallic, serious, stiff and would-be grown-up. The VW Polo is also one of those that has to adopt the design of its big brother, the Golf. The family resemblance is not least due to the fact that new car buyers for almost all brands are on average older than 50 years. What the so-called “best agers” consider modern triggers a lifestyle alarm in many others. “Our customers are significantly younger. They are looking for the vehicle their parents didn’t drive. They want something new that fits the times and that can also polarize the design language at one point or another,” says Werner Tietz, Board Member for Research and development at Cupra.
