The number seven has a high symbolic value for Ronaldo, he describes his shirt number as his lucky number; “CR7” is a winged term for the soccer superstar. Players from both teams wore black armbands.
Videos of the moving solidarity action during the game made the rounds on social networks, and countless people also expressed their support for Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodríguez in the comments.
Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp was also moved after the action: “That’s exactly how football should be – all rivalries aside at this moment,” said the ex-BVB coach after his team’s 4-0 win.

Cristiano Ronaldo announced the loss of his son on Monday evening.
