After the violent death of two police officers on patrol, the majority of people mourn. But there are also applause for the perpetrators on the Internet. Something is being done about it.

In honor of the Kusel police officers who were killed, Saarland Prime Minister Tobias Hans (CDU) arranged for a book of condolence to be laid out in the State Chancellery.

«The Saarland mourns the loss of two young people who were murdered in the service of our security. We owe them respect and gratitude for their police work. You will not be forgotten,” he said at the signing on Thursday.

Together with the Prime Minister, Interior Minister Klaus Boullion, State Parliament President Stephan Toscani (both CDU), Constitutional Court President Roland Rixecker and State Police Vice President Natalie Grandjean also signed the book of condolences. The State Chancellery then invited all Saarlanders to express their grief for the victims from Saarland by making an entry in the book.

Early Monday morning, a 24-year-old police officer and a 29-year-old chief inspector were shot dead during a traffic check on a district road in the Palatinate near the district town of Kusel. Since Tuesday, two suspects have been in custody on suspicion of joint murder and poaching. The two 32 and 38-year-old men also come from Saarland.

Investigative Group Against Hate Comments

While some mourn, others applaud the perpetrators on the Internet. 14 officers are tasked with tracking down the authors of hate comments. “The investigative team is at the beginning of its work. We will comment on the results in due course,” said the Koblenz public prosecutor’s office on Thursday. Cooperation with the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) is also planned. The “Allgemeine Zeitung” also reported on the investigative group.

Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) had commissioned the BKA to take action against hate comments on the Internet. The investigators in Rhineland-Palatinate had previously sharply criticized applause with the perpetrators on social media. This will not be accepted.

Found fallow deer

Meanwhile, a total of 22 fallow deer have been found in the car of the men who allegedly shot two police officers in the West Palatinate. In addition, animal waste was secured in the sausage kitchen of a suspect in Sulzbach, Saarland, the Kaiserslautern public prosecutor announced on Thursday.

According to the public prosecutor’s office, 20 disembodied wild animal carcasses and animal waste were discovered at the whereabouts of a suspect in Spiesen-Elversberg in Saarland. In front of the door there was a refrigerated trailer with meat packed ready for sale and worth several thousand euros. The results of the searches would be evaluated further, it said.
