An elderly man with a walking stick is said to have faked a car breakdown on a dirt road near Ludwigsburg on Thursday evening, a police spokeswoman reported on Friday. With his vehicle, which was described as bright, he blocked a dirt road just before an intersection.

The 24-year-old passenger of the private money transport service got out – and was immediately threatened by the man with a walking stick and a perpetrator with a weapon. At the same time, two other perpetrators approached the 42-year-old driver of the van with weapons drawn and forced him to get out. Both attackers had to lie on the ground. They were further threatened with weapons while the perpetrators loaded the loot from the van into two cars. Then they fled.

The search is ongoing

A large-scale search for the crime using a helicopter was unsuccessful. There was also no trace of the robbers’ cars. The police are looking for witnesses. Some of the perpetrators, possibly all of them, are said to have been masked. The driver of the cash-in-transit truck and his colleague were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The crime in Upper Bavaria – in front of a bank branch in Großkarolinenfeld near Rosenheim – happened in the morning. The robbers hit one of the occupants of the cash-in-transit vehicle on the head with an object, injuring him slightly. According to the information, the two perpetrators were dressed in black and wearing masks.

When they wanted to escape, the crew of the cash-in-transit truck used the firearm and shot at the perpetrators’ vehicle, a spokesman for the Upper Bavaria South Police Headquarters said. According to the information, the getaway vehicle is a white van. The police started the search with a helicopter and numerous forces.
