Two girls kick a 14-year-old girl. The act is filmed. For the police it is clear: There was a “previous relationship” between the parties involved.

The 14-year-old, who was brutally attacked by two girls at Rastatt train station on Sunday, was probably no accidental victim. The Karlsruhe and Offenburg police pointed out that the 14-year-old had previously been involved in several arguments with different parties. She was repeatedly a victim, but also acted as a perpetrator.

The 14-year-old was the victim of an attack on the Karlsruhe subway last fall. In a dispute in Gaggenau, she is also said to have been the perpetrator.

“The 14-year-old is the common denominator”

Why there were repeated outbreaks of violence and to what extent there are connections between the various parties involved is still the subject of investigations. One thing is clear for the Offenburg police: “The 14-year-old is the common denominator.” A spokesman for the Karlsruhe police emphasized: It is not the case that a group of girls is attacking random victims. “There was a previous relationship.” In the Rastatt case, all three girls were known to the police.

The outbreak of violence in Rastatt was filmed and shared on social networks. One video shows a girl curled up on the floor of a train station platform. Two other girls strike. Help comes from no one.

The police are investigating, among other things, because of dangerous bodily harm and because of failure to provide assistance. She became aware of the attack when the disturbing images appeared on the internet. The 14-year-old then went to the hospital. According to the police, she was released after outpatient treatment with minor injuries.

A few hours earlier, the 14-year-old had already had a physical altercation with the two alleged attackers at the train station in Bietigheim, according to the police. On Saturday she got into an argument in Gaggenau. The House of Youth Rights is dealing with the incidents and examining measures to protect the 14-year-olds.
