An attack horrifies people in the British capital. A man is said to have injured several people with a sword and killed a teenager. The king also speaks out.

In a knife attack In London, a 14-year-old boy was killed and several people were seriously injured. Investigators arrested a suspect who was armed with a sword. “The events this morning are simply horrific,” said Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell of the Metropolitan Police.

The investigation is still in its early stages. The background to the attack was unclear. The police initially did not assume that it was a terrorist attack or a targeted attack.

The teenager was taken to a hospital with stab wounds and died there, Bell said. Two police officers suffered significant injuries and were operated on. But their lives are probably out of danger. Two other people were also injured, but not life-threateningly.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak spoke of a shocking incident. “My thoughts are with those affected and their families,” he said on the X platform (formerly Twitter). He thanked the rescue workers for their efforts and the police officers for their courage. “Such violence has no place on our streets.” Also King Charles III. expressed his condolences. A palace spokesman said he had ordered him to be informed in detail about the incident. Home Secretary James Cleverly called on people not to speculate or distribute footage of the case online, but rather to report important information to the police.

In the morning, the authorities were reported that a vehicle had driven into a building and several people had been stabbed. A 36-year-old was arrested 22 minutes after the first emergency call was received by the police, said Bell.

Many in London would want to know why this terrible act happened. “And it’s our job to figure that out, and we will,” Bell said. The crime happened in the morning in the northeastern district of Hainault near a train station.
