Countertenor Alois Mühlbacher: From Café Annemarie to the State Opera – Culture

Based on the pitch of the voice, countertenors can be divided into higher and lower falsetto players, which is why some call themselves sopranos or altos. The 27-year-old Austrian Alois Mühlbacher is therefore a coloratura soprano who switched to countertenor repertoire in his advanced youth. In Linz he can currently be seen in George Frideric Handel’s opera “Rinaldo”, and on November 20th he will be giving a cantata recital in the Vienna Konzerthaus.
