Corona pandemic: Lauterbach wants a new federal-state meeting

Status: 09.10.2021 9.45 a.m.

SPD health expert Lauterbach is in favor of the federal and state governments agreeing on corona measures again – especially during the coalition negotiations. In terms of incidence, however, there is little movement: According to the RKI, it is 64.4.

SPD health expert Karl Lauterbach has suggested a new federal-state round to partially tighten the corona rules. “It would make sense for the Prime Ministers to meet the Chancellor again as soon as possible,” Lauterbach told the newspapers of the Funke media group. “There are a lot of decisions to be made in the pandemic – from the corona rules to the booster vaccinations. We must not lose track of the situation during the coalition negotiations,” he said, referring to the talks on the formation of a government.

Lauterbach for more use of 2G

The pandemic will be over in late spring 2022 if no more dangerous virus variant occurs. “But we will have a difficult winter if we do not achieve the necessary vaccination quota.” Therefore, the protective measures could not be terminated significantly.

From his point of view, it is sometimes even about tightening. “We should use the 2G rule more intensively, so only allow vaccinated and convalescents access to restaurants, cinemas or events,” said Lauterbach. This creates an incentive to get vaccinated after all.

Incidence stagnates

In the morning, the Robert Koch Institute gave the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week at 64.4. The previous day the value was 63.8, a week ago it was also 64.4 (previous month: 83.5). The health authorities in Germany reported 8,854 new infections to the RKI within one day. A week ago the value was 8517 infections. According to the new information, 65 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. A week ago there were 66 deaths. The RKI has counted 4,302,661 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.
