Corona: China fights new Covid wave

Mass tests and makeshift hospitals: China is again struggling with increasing corona numbers. This was reported by state television CCTV. The country’s national health agency reported 2,416 new confirmed coronavirus cases for Thursday, compared to 1,317 the previous day. In the northern province of Jilin, dozens of residents queued in chilly weather to get tested. The province has recently seen a sharp rise in coronavirus cases. The economic metropolis of Shenzhen in the south of the country is also struggling with a new corona outbreak. For China, it is the worst Covid outbreak since the virus first emerged in Wuhan in 2020. President Xi Jinping signaled on Thursday that previous regulations to contain the outbreak should not be changed. China continues to pursue a strict “zero Covid strategy”.
