At first glance, the cases are very different: On the one hand, the debacle at the Deutsche Bank brand Postbank. After an IT change, thousands of customers complained about blocked accounts, poor accessibility or even unauthorized debits, which is why the financial regulator Bafin is now sending a watchdog to the twin towers. On the other hand, there is the greenwashing scandal involving the investment company DWS, which the US Securities and Exchange Commission has just slapped with a fine of $19 million. According to the SEC, DWS marketed itself to its fund investors as being “greener” than it actually was.
