Clément Beaune considers that “no one is a natural candidate” in Paris

Ambitions continue to sharpen around the seat of mayor of the capital. The Renaissance deputy of Paris Clément Beaune thus recalled on Saturday that he was still in the dance. To this end, he affirmed that “two years before the deadline” of the municipal elections, “no one is a natural candidate” in Paris.

“The ambitions are legitimate. That of Rachida Dati for Paris is known. But within the majority, there are others, like Pierre-Yves Bournazel”, from the Horizons party, underlined the former Minister of Transport in La Tribune Sunday.

“It’s too early to stop the counters”

According to him, the presidential majority must have “a unique project and a unique candidate”. “But it is too early to stop the counters. The question will not arise before the end of the year,” he assured. Clément Beaune, who himself could run as a candidate, above all stressed that we would have to “count on” him and “with” him.

The appointment of Rachida Dati, from the Republicans (LR), to the Ministry of Culture has considerably reshuffled the cards within the Macronist majority with a view to the municipal elections in the capital. Especially since a recent Ipsos survey for La Tribune Sunday puts her well ahead of voting intentions in the first round (between 38 and 34%), in all scenarios, whether or not she has a rival on the right or in the center.

MP Sylvain Maillard, president of the Parisian federation, for his part indicated on Wednesday that the presidential majority could come together behind a “natural candidate” for the 2026 municipal elections in Paris, without going through a primary.
