Ciotti reveals his 25 measures for “a real revolution in security”

Éric Ciotti has his ideas on things to implement regarding security. The president of the Republicans thus proposes a “shock of authority and severity”, accompanied by a plan comprising 25 measures, in an interview with JDD.

“I am proposing a real revolution in terms of security,” says the deputy for Alpes-Maritimes, who sent a letter to this effect to President Emmanuel Macron. “Every day in France, 1,000 people are victims of intentional assault” or “a near doubling since 2012” and “entire neighborhoods have become lawless zones handed over to drug traffickers,” he laments.

Usual measures and other more original ones

Lowering of the criminal majority to 16 years and removal of the minority excuse, removal of family allowances for “parents who fail in their educational duties”, reinstatement of double full, implementation of short sentences and return of sentences floor… many of these measures are part of LR’s usual programmatic arsenal.

Others are more original, such as the fact that a convicted drug user who is a repeat offender has his sentence published online, or the increase to 1,000 euros in the fixed misdemeanor fine for drug users.

LR wants “at least 100,000 prison places”

LR proposes the “establishment of “check points” in the four corners of neighborhoods plagued by drug trafficking” and the “creation of a permanent special force” intended to intervene in the most sensitive neighborhoods, made up of soldiers from the Sentinel force, police officers, representatives of the customs services and tax services. “I want every neighborhood to be locked down day and night by the police,” thunders Éric Ciotti.

He also wants to “rehabilitate the investigation sector within the national police” by creating a “special hardship allowance” and by doubling “the number of police officers assigned to it”. He also considers it necessary to have “at least 100,000 prison places”, compared to 61,000 today. In July 2023, LR presented a plan setting a target of 80,000 places by 2027.

A big tackle against Emmanuel Macron

LR also proposes to restore authority at school that teachers who are harassed, threatened or attacked systematically benefit from functional protection and support from their hierarchy, with an increase in the penalties incurred for people who attack teachers. . And advocates banning cell phones in high school.

“Our concrete, substantiated and responsible proposals are on the table. The ball is in Emmanuel Macron’s court” whose record is “the worst of the Fifth Republic in terms of insecurity”, finally asserts Éric Ciotti.
