Majority considers Christian Lindner’s Sylt bash to be inappropriate

While Germany is in crisis mode, Christian Lindner celebrates a pompous wedding on Sylt. The majority of people in the country consider this inappropriate, shows a recent survey by the star.

The majority of people in Germany find it inappropriate that Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) held his luxurious wedding celebration on Sylt despite the current crises. This is the result of a representative survey by the opinion research institute Civey on behalf of the star out.

According to this, only 33 percent of those surveyed consider the celebrations to be appropriate or rather appropriate. 54 percent say it is not appropriate or not appropriate at all.

Broken down according to the voting intentions of the respondents, the survey shows that the majority of supporters of almost all parties represented in the Bundestag consider the Sylt party of the FDP politician and his wife Franca Lehfeldt to be inappropriate. Only among the supporters of the Liberals is there a clear majority of 67 percent who consider wedding celebrations to be appropriate.

According to the results, age plays only a minor role in assessing appropriateness. Here it is in all age groups between 48 and 57 percent of those questioned who assess the event as inappropriate. On the other hand, there are larger differences between the sexes in the statements. While 48 percent of the men surveyed consider the wedding ceremony to be inappropriate (37 percent said it was appropriate), 59 percent of women did (30 percent said it was appropriate).

The wedding of Lindner and Lehfeldt last week also triggered a discussion about the extent to which politicians’ private lives should be the subject of political debates. Civey also asked this on behalf of the star away. 22 percent of those surveyed said that private life should definitely or rather be part of political debates, 67 percent spoke out strongly or rather against it. Only among the AfD voters is there a relative majority of those who are in favor of including the private lives of politicians in the political debates. The greatest rejection is among the FDP supporters.

For the survey, the opinion research institute Civey interviewed between 5006 and 5040 randomly selected people on 11th and 12th July on behalf of stern, depending on the question. Depending on the question, the error tolerance is between 2.5 and 7.5 percent.
