Chia seeds are considered a superfood – and for good reason. The small seeds are true nutrient bombs that are full of healthy building blocks. They are particularly rich in proteins; on average, chia seeds contain about 10 percent more protein than other types of grain. The omega-3 fatty acids are also a real plus: They are important for the human metabolism, keep our cells young and supple, have an anti-inflammatory effect and lower blood pressure.
Chia seeds are very suitable for losing weight, as they swell when combined with liquid and thus fill the stomach – which keeps us full for a particularly long time. The seeds, on the other hand, contain hardly any carbohydrates!
