On February 23rd, Bayerischer Rundfunk received a letter from the AfD. In it, the party’s state executive board expressly banned a BR journalist from all party events in the state of Bavaria. The AfD state leader, Stephan Protschka, denies the reporter’s objectivity, the BR explained in a statement. The journalist was expressly disinvited from a parliamentary group press reception two days earlier. The reason for this, according to parliamentary group leader Katrin Ebner-Steiner when asked by the SZ: an insult to her. “The collaboration” with the reporter ended “due to defamatory statements.” The BR reporter submitted an affidavit in which he denied the allegations against him. According to the broadcaster, they have not been substantiated by the party to date.
