Camper driver in custody after knocking down teenager on scooter

A 52-year-old man went to the Saint-Malo police station (Ille-et-Vilaine) on Tuesday March 21 to denounce himself. While driving his motorhome, the man allegedly hit a teenager who was riding a scooter near Atalante Avenue, reports The Telegram. Seriously injured, the 17-year-old was rushed to the South Hospital in Rennes.

Asked by 20 minutesthe public prosecutor Fabrice Tremel specifies that the driver “was immediately placed in police custody for acts of violence with a weapon [son véhicule] and hit-and-run”. The defendant, who has never been convicted, “denies having intended to hurt anyone,” said the prosecutor.

He will be presented this Thursday morning to the Saint-Malo public prosecutor’s office for the opening of a judicial investigation.
