BVB: Lionel Messi probably voted for Jude Bellingam at the Kopa Trophy
Jude Bellingham finished second in the voting for the Kopa Trophy – thanks in part to the votes of Lionel Messi.
Superstar Lionel Messi (34) has the choice to Kopa Trophy Apparently also voted for Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham (18) for the best young player of the year. The Catalan reports Sports.
Messi was with the from France Football as one of 32 previous Ballon d’Or winners. According to the report, the Argentine gave three points to his ex-Barca comrade Pedri, two points went to Bellingham and one point went to Messi’s PSG teammate Nuno Mendes.
Kopa Trophy: Pedri ahead of Bellingham and Musiala
Pedri eventually won the vote with 89 points and prevailed ahead of Bellingham (39) and Jamal Musiala from FC Bayern (38). The young Spaniard succeeds Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt, who was awarded the Kopa Trophy in 2019.
In his acceptance speech on Monday evening in Paris, Pedri paid tribute to his club Barca “and the people who supported me. The captains like Messi! Thank you for helping me.”
Messi was in the audience himself, after all, the Argentine was awarded the Ballon d’Or for the seventh time.
