Nordi Mukiele, Kieran Trippier or a surprise candidate? FC Bayern is still looking for a winter reinforcement for the right side of the defense. Apparently there is an agreement.

After signing Eric Dier, Thomas Tuchel is hoping for another winter transfer from FC Bayern – and that could be Kieran Trippier.

According to Sky, the club has reached a verbal agreement with the defender regarding a move to Munich. According to the report, Trippier (33 years old/Newcastle United) is the first alternative if the arrival of Nordi Mukiele (26 years old/Paris Saint-Germain) doesn’t work out.

“If there is an opportunity to sign players who, like Eric, we are convinced not only in terms of sport but also in terms of character that they will help the group, then we are open to doing that,” said Tuchel on Saturday. “The package has to be a big one because we are at a high level.”

Tuchel doesn’t name any names

Tuchel did not comment on the speculation surrounding Mukiele or Trippier. “I won’t comment on names because it’s not appropriate and we don’t want other clubs to talk publicly about our players. The positions we might want to add to if there is an opportunity are clearly defined,” he said 50-year-old who would like to have another right-back in the squad.

Dier (30), who is on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, could also be used there. But he is actually intended as a central defender. “To bring someone in in the middle of the season, you have to be sure that it’s the right character,” said Tuchel. Dier could make his debut as a substitute in the home game against Werder Bremen on Sunday (3:30 p.m./DAZN).

What about Mukiele?

The former Leipzig Mukiele is said to be the desired player for the right-back position. However, since negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly proving difficult, Trippier has reportedly been considered as a possible alternative. When asked whether they were looking for a top player or a backup, Tuchel smiled. “We always look for the whole package: young, good-looking and successful,” he said. “The situation is tricky, the starting position is tricky. Other clubs have the same goals as us. The winter transfer window is a little more complicated than the summer transfer window.”

The Moroccan Noussair Mazraoui is missing from Munich after being injured because he was sent off for the Africa Cup, Konrad Laimer is actually planned for the midfield. Permanent reserve Bouna Sarr cannot help out in the last year of his contract because he is injured. FC Bayern loaned Josip Stanisic to Bayer Leverkusen for a season.
