Borussia Dortmund can play national players in the Bundesliga until 2026 Emre Can plan.

The middle actor has prematurely extended his contract, which runs until 2024, by two more years. As announced by BVB, the club and the 29-year-old player reached agreement on the contract extension on Friday. Several media had recently reported on the contract talks.

Can was signed by Juventus Turin in winter 2020 for around 25 million euros. In the past second half of the season, under the direction of coach Edin Terzic, the defensive specialist developed into a top performer with the German runners-up. “In the past few months I’ve definitely arrived and have shown what I expect from myself and what the fans here expect from me. It has to be my benchmark to play like in the second half of the season or even better. Dortmund and I go well together,” Can is quoted as saying in a club statement.

Can has already played 124 Bundesliga games and scored 14 goals. For the German national team, he was used in 41 international matches. There are also 115 duels in the English Premier League. “In the past season, Emre has developed into the leading player that we have always seen in him. We appreciate his greed, his physique and his absolute determination to want to win every game, not only at Borussia Dortmund but also in the national team,” explained BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl.
