The 74-year-old musician campaigns for young colleagues in the government. Since Brexit, they have only been able to tour Europe under difficult conditions.

The British singer and songwriter Elton John (74) is worried about the future of the next generation of artists.

“Brexit is causing great damage” – and this applies above all to young musicians, he said in an interview with the TV program “Kulturzeit” (3sat). “I talk to the government a lot, I want something to change, but the process is long.”

«Young people in particular must be able to go on tour. That makes me damn sad, “added the musician, who is planning to leave the stage in 2023. «When I stop in 2023, I will be 76 years old. I would like to spend more time with my family and the children. If you ask me about charity – ok if I have to. But as far as touring is concerned: no! “

Elton John used the forced Corona break to record a new album. The work “The Lockdown Sessions”, which was released on Friday, contains 16 songs that the 74-year-old produced primarily with the support of young artists. He had to postpone his farewell tour “Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour” planned for 2022 because of a hip operation.
