Gianni Infantino re-elected FIFA President

The Swiss Gianni Infantino remains President of the World Football Association. The 52-year-old’s re-election was a mere formality – Infantino was the only candidate.
At the head of the world football association, everything remains the same: the Swiss Gianni Infantino unsurprisingly won the election as president.
Infantino was the only candidate for re-election at the Fifa Congress. Confirmation in office was a formality for the Swiss because of the strong support among the 211 FIFA member associations. Only a small part of the national associations, including the German Football Association, had failed to support the 52-year-old.
The Swiss has been in office since 2016. Since he initially took over the remaining term of office from the suspended Joseph Blatter seven years ago, another re-election in 2027 to 2031 is possible according to the Fifa statutes
