In Borowski’s new case, the tricky search for a missing husband leads to unexpected twists. Is it worth turning on?

Commissioner Klaus Borowski is on a farewell tour: Axel Milberg (67) filmed his very last “crime scene” just a few days ago. He will be seen in his signature role for the last time in 2025. As we all know, there is still some time until then. Next Sunday, March 3rd, it will be the turn of his current crime thriller “Borowski and the Revenant” from 8:15 p.m. on Das Erste. The chief inspector and his right-hand woman, Mila Sahin (played by Almila Bagriacik, 33), try to track down a missing husband. For a long time it has been unclear: who is the victim and who is the perpetrator? Is the obvious also the truthful?

That’s what “Crime Scene: Borowski and the Revenant” is about

At the center of this gripping TV crime drama is the eccentric and inscrutable Tobias Exner (Pétur Óskar, born 1984). A young, good-looking man who cheats on his wife Greta (Cordeliawege, 47) – a successful and extremely rich entrepreneur – behind her back countless times and at the same time blatantly lives off her fortune. He has already made secret plans with his online acquaintance “Kitty13”, whom he met on a dating portal. His unscrupulous plan: murder his wife in order to get all of her money and use it to start a new life.

However, before Tobias can put his sinister plan into action, he suddenly disappears without a trace under mysterious circumstances. The investigators Klaus Borowski and Mila Sahin take on the case and quickly find out that all the clues lead to Tobias’ mysterious online contact, which takes the investigation in a completely unexpected direction. Does his wife have something to do with the disappearance? Did she find out about the murder plans and is that why she got ahead of him? Or did Tobias Exner simply start a new life somewhere else?

Is it worth turning on?

Of course! And there are many reasons for that: primarily, of course, because of Axel Milberg as a person. You could already get wet-eyed if you allow yourself to think that this “crime scene” veteran will soon no longer be regularly hunting for criminals on Sunday evenings. “Borowski and the Revenant” also fits seamlessly into the strong, sophisticated crime novels from Kiel that have repeatedly delighted the “Tatort” community in recent years. Secondly, Sunday evenings in front of the TV are worth it because of the main role in the episode, played by Cordeliawege. The actress interprets the mysterious, successful and attractive businesswoman extremely convincingly. Above all, the two faces of Greta Exner, consisting of a desperate wife and a successful entrepreneur, strike the viewer as believable and intense.

And thirdly, the Kiel “Tatort” team once again implemented a script that has everything an exciting 90 minutes needs: interesting characters, a plot without length, realistic implementation and an eye for aesthetic images – garnished with a furious finale that you wouldn’t have expected. The built-in time jumps and the “crime scene” end credits trick (that’s all we’ll reveal!) don’t seem intentionally modern or overly artistic, but rather fit wonderfully into the narrative structure and offer real added value. You can tell that the Kiel “Tatort” makers once again relied on the successful duo Andreas Kleinert (director) and Sascha Arango (screenplay). We can only hope that this recipe for success will be maintained even without Milberg – beyond 2025. Keep it up!
