Of course, the SPD can also govern as a loser in the election if it gets a majority together. But it shouldn’t, because in twenty years it hasn’t managed to make Berlin a functioning city.

So now they are exploring in Berlin: CDU and SPD, CDU and Greens – and the previous alliance of SPD, Greens and Left wants to explore whether they could perhaps work together again. But: are these three allowed to continue as election losers? Of course they can. Coalitions are not on the ballot; if you want to govern, you need a majority in parliament. And whoever has it can then rule. But the real question is: Should Continue to rule Red-Green-Red? And the answer to that is: no way.
