An 18-year-old fell and died near Lake Königssee in the Bavarian Alps. A hiker found the lifeless young man on the way from the St. Bartholomä Church in Schönau am Königssee (Berchtesgadener Land district) to the south, the police said. On Sunday the man was lying on a steep area about 50 meters from the path.
Since she couldn’t get to the man herself, the hiker made an emergency call when the man didn’t respond to her calls. An emergency doctor was only able to determine his death. After initial investigations, the police assumed that the American, who was reportedly in Germany for several weeks to study, died as a result of a fall.
When and how exactly this happened still needs to be determined, the police said. There are actually no paths or paths near where the man was found that the man could have been on. The 18-year-old was not reported missing. A police helicopter was used to retrieve the body.
