Bavaria tip – Star of David and Lederhosen – Bavaria

“With a Star of David and Lederhose – Jewish G’schichtn on Tour” is the name of the new traveling exhibition that kicks off this Sunday in Miesbach. The European Janusz Korczak Academy (EJKA) is hosting the event, with a focus on stories about Jewish life in Bavaria. The President of the EJKA, Eva Haller, expects a “multimedia experience exhibition”, which is based on a high degree of interactivity for the visitors. You could get in touch with the Jewish community and learn about the diversity of Jewish life in Bavaria.

The special thing about the “pop-up traveling exhibition” is that it can be visited for one day in each of the seven Bavarian districts. The events are not identical, but “local stories are integrated” and “regional thematic priorities are set,” says Haller. Jewish stories from the past, but also from the present, are told: “It’s not just about the Holocaust, we also want to show the present,” says the EJKA President. The project is funded by the Bavarian Ministry of Social Affairs and aims to counteract “widespread, anti-Semitic prejudices and conspiracy myths”. For Haller this is just the beginning: “The project will probably be extended to the whole of Germany.”
