Bavaria: The registration requirement for nurses could backfire – Bavaria

For years, Bavaria’s state government has been trying to polish up the image of the nursing profession. “Are you the nursing type?” asks a yellow banner with photos of people looking resolutely into the camera on the Ministry of Health’s website. During the pandemic, Prime Minister Markus Söder never tired of applauding the care and cajoling with the prospect of bonus payments. Only Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger made a mistake when he suggested requiring long-term unemployed people to work in care. Everyone can do a bit of combing and feeding, that’s what it sounded like. But of course that’s not the image we want to convey.
