Not only Heide Rezepa-Zabel is enthusiastic: the stones that a couple wants to sell at “Bares for Rares” have the alexandrite effect. But what are they worth?

“Who hears better: the man or the dog?” Horst Lichter wants to know from his guests. The moderator talks to Gabriele and Matthias Wohld from Neversdorf – and is surprised by the answer. In fact, the man seems better at obeying. “The dog doesn’t hear at all.” Lights hadn’t counted on that!

But the couple did not come to “Bares for Rares” to chat. The Wohlds want to auction a bracelet that Gabriele inherited from her late aunt. She lived in Istanbul and Saudi Arabia for a long time.

But the gem probably comes from another country: Heide Rezepa-Zabel suspects Egypt as the country of origin. This is indicated by the signs and symbols: the hinges on the bracelet complement each other to form a lotus flower, the country’s national symbol.

But the expert was particularly taken with the stones: they show a changing color, the so-called alexandrite effect, as Rezepa-Zabel explains. This means a color change of the stone caused by the light source. She demonstrates what she means: under the lamp, the color changes from red to violet.

However, only a weaker color change can be observed here. Which also affects the value. The Wohlds imagine 500 euros as their desired price. Heide Rezepa-Zabel also thinks this is possible: she estimates the value at 550 to 600 euros.

Horst Lichter can hardly believe it

Afterwards, Horst Lichter wants to know exactly: “Only for my history books: Assuming the stones were the real ones. Where would the price be?” Asks the moderator. And can hardly believe the answer. Six-digit sums are possible for stones that show a peak color change from emerald green to pigeon blood red. gosh!

But the bracelet is also attracting interest in the budget version: Elke Velten-Tönnies puts the piece of jewelery on and finds the sight “beautiful”. But Markus Wildhagen, who shelled out 700 euros for the clunkers, was awarded the contract.

Although they missed a six-figure sum, the Wohlds are still satisfied.
