First as brawn, then as solyanka, finally as a salad – at restaurateur Domke it’s all about fish. Now the busy Usedom native has set his fourth world record. The main ingredient comes from the sea.

Fish, salad and onions – the Usedom restaurateur André Domke produced the largest fish roll in the world on Sunday and set a world record. For the roll, which is over six and a half meters long, he and his team used “kilos of “Lollo Bionda” lettuce, mountains of onions and barrels of Bismarck herring from the Baltic Sea,” Domke told the German Press Agency.

The Record Institute for Germany (RID) confirmed his record with a certificate. Domkes At exactly 6.68 meters, the fish roll was more than two meters longer than the previous record roll, which, according to the institute, measured 4.40 meters.

“The previous world record was set in Schleswig-Holstein,” said Domke. The certified fish sommelier said, not entirely seriously, that he was given an additional boost by being able to snatch the record from the neighboring federal state.

Former professional boxer Axel Schulz and boxing trainer legend Ulli Wegner helped him prepare, top and sell in the historic fish pavilion in the seaside resort of Heringsdorf on the island of Usedom.

How can such a long bun be divided?

The difficult and tricky part of this world record attempt was to cut the long bun in half lengthwise, said Domke. He bought a very long saw knife especially for this and tested it in advance. According to Domke and RID, some of the proceeds from the tasting will be donated to the Greifswald Children’s Hospice Lighthouse Support Association.

“André Domke is always drawn to the public with his ideas,” record judge Olaf Kuchenbecker from the Hamburg RID once said about Domke. The fish expert constantly reinvents himself and surprises with culinary excellence.

Domke had already been immortalized in the RID’s best lists three times: in 2018 with the largest fish brawn in the world, in 2019 with the largest pot of fish solyanka and in 2021 with a gigantic herring salad called Heringshäckerle.

According to its own statements, the Record Institute for Germany collects, tests and presents top performances of all kinds and specializes in German-speaking countries.
