Aying – parents’ taxi instead of the S-Bahn – district of Munich

The changeover was successful in Aying. However, from rail to car – and not the other way around as hoped. According to Nortrud Semmler from the S 7 Ost-plus initiative, which is committed to the expansion of the S-Bahn line in the south-eastern district and a further increase in frequency, a “parent SEV” has been founded in the community – i.e. a rail replacement service for fathers and mothers who drive their children to the Kreuzstrasse stop. In view of the notorious delays in the S-Bahn, this is to ensure that they can also catch the connecting train for the Mangfallbahn there, so that they can be at the Holzkirchner Gymnasium in time for the start of school. Also in order to protest against this state of affairs, the initiative handed over 470 signatures to the managing director of the Bavarian Railway Company (BEG), Bärbel Fuchs, in the Aying town hall on Tuesday evening.

The initiative’s activists started the signature campaign primarily because of their anger at the new timing on the S 7, which was introduced with the timetable change in December 2022. It is true that the BEG introduced the long-promised 20-minute tact during peak traffic times and has been running significantly more trains since then; However, almost all additional S-Bahn trains do not stop at the stops in the Aying districts of Peiß and Dürrnhaar. Aying’s Mayor Peter Wagner (CSU) also described this as a real nuisance. The S 7 Ost-plus initiative is calling for this deficiency to be rectified and for the line to be double-tracked, which has been planned for years, to finally be tackled.
