The software subsidiary Cariad from VW is already working with the Israeli specialist for self-driving vehicles. “If you have good experiences with a partner, it makes sense to work with them in other fields as well,” said an insider. Volkswagen and the US carmaker Ford announced their exit from Argo on Wednesday, with the start-up company losing its main shareholders. Both partners had recently each held 40 percent in Argo, which was pursuing ambitious plans for self-driving vehicles. Ford probably gave the impetus for the withdrawal. The hopes associated with Argo were not fulfilled as quickly as hoped.
