Augsburg: Appeal after verdict for death threats against 16-year-olds – Bavaria

A father and his son have been sentenced to prison for allegedly plotting the murder of a family member. The verdict is not final and all sides have appealed.

All sides have appealed after a father and his son were sentenced to prison for threatening to kill a 16-year-old relative. At the beginning of March, the Augsburg district court sentenced the 44-year-old and the 24-year-old, father and brother of the victim, to three years and eight months in prison.

They are said to have planned the murder of the daughter and sister because the girl had a boyfriend against the wishes of the Yazidi family. With Yazidis, only relationships within the religious group are tolerated.

The judgment was not final, reported court spokesman Dominik Semsch on Friday. “Both the defendants and the prosecution have appealed.” The men’s defense attorneys had demanded suspended sentences for the accused, and the public prosecutor’s office and the youth’s attorney as a joint plaintiff had demanded a slightly longer prison sentence.

The men are said to have not only chastised the 16-year-old because of the intolerable relationship. A family council is also said to have planned the murder of the young people in the presence of the girl. The public prosecutor’s office has also opened investigations against other family members.

The youth welfare office has accommodated the student in a secret location. The police still classify the now 17-year-old as highly endangered. If the appeals are not withdrawn, the case must now be reopened at the Augsburg district court
