At your own pace across the street – Ebersberg

Older people and people with restricted mobility find it difficult to cross a street quickly, and pedestrian traffic lights often turn red before they have even crossed the lane. At least in two places in Ebersberg, those affected can now significantly increase their safety: Since 2018, the pedestrian traffic lights at Marienplatz and in Eberhardstraße behind the town hall have been equipped with a green phase extension. A special chip triggers a green phase that is six seconds longer.

Such chips are issued in the citizens’ office of the city of Ebersberg for people with a walking disability, with a medical certificate of limited mobility or on presentation of a disability card with the code G/aG. A deposit of ten euros will be charged, but this will be refunded if the chip is returned later.

The Ebersberg Senior Citizens’ Advisory Council is available for questions on (08092) 23 20 640 every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and by email at [email protected], as well as the citizens’ office in the town hall on (08092) 82 55-92 Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. or by email at [email protected].
