  • The Battle of Mariupol Continues, with fighting inside the city since Friday. A few hours after the bombardment of an art school where nearly 400 people had taken refuge, Russia demanded the capitulation before 5 a.m. on Monday morning, in exchange for the opening of two humanitarian corridors (one to the east, in Russia, one to the west). Ukraine, through its Deputy Prime Minister, Iryna Vereshchuk, immediately rejected the ultimatum, demanding that corridors be opened despite everything.
  • In kyiv, at least 8 people were killed in a strike by the Russian army at a mall on Sunday night. Earlier in the day a shell exploded in a yard just outside an apartment building injuring at least five people.
  • Russia claimed on Sunday, for the second day in a row, to have used hypersonic missiles in Ukraine, this time to destroy a Ukrainian army fuel reserve in the south. These armaments “don’t change the situation”said US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.
  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, urged Israel to ‘make a choice’ by supporting Ukraine against Russia, during a videoconference speech before the deputies of the Knesset, the Israeli Parliament. He then estimated, overnight from Sunday to Monday, that Jerusalem would be “the right place to find peace” by evoking the negotiations with Russia which he calls for.
  • The American President, Joe Biden will travel to Warsaw on Friday to meet his Polish counterpart, Andrzej Duda, the White House announced on Sunday. This trip will take place after Mr. Biden’s visit to Belgium to meet leaders of NATO, the G7 and the European Union.
  • Beijing does not send military assistance to Moscowsaid the Chinese ambassador to the United States, without specifying whether this position also applied to the future.
  • Ten million Ukrainiansnearly a quarter of the population, have now fled their homes, said the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi. They are more than 3.3 million – 90% of women and children – to have left the country.
