The police are looking for witnesses to an arson that took place on Wednesday evening in the book exchange Literaturhaus on the market square. Unknown people had set fire to several books, a passer-by noticed the smoke from a burning book and then immediately called the emergency services. The smoldering books were completely extinguished by the Poing volunteer fire brigade. Without the attentive witness, the entire House of Literature would have burned down. Police estimate the damage caused to be around $5,000. Anyone who can provide relevant information about the incident is asked to contact the Poing Police Inspectorate on (08121) 99170.
