The surest sign that a club is definitely not in crisis is when the club’s spokeswoman writes an article in a major German newspaper about how the club is not in crisis. At least since Eva Menasse (who, together with Deniz Yücel, holds the office of spokesman for PEN Berlin, which was founded a year and a half ago), a few days before the second PEN annual conference on December 16th, published an article with the sales line “Is PEN Berlin in a crisis ? No.” in the weekly newspaper Time published, one thing is clear: PEN Berlin is definitely and officially not in a crisis.
