Lioness or wild boar? A veterinarian from Potsdam doubts the wild boar assessment. She refers to the round head shape in the video. Even the witness who made the video is skeptical.

The Potsdam veterinarian Michaela Ebeling doubts the assessment of experts that the animal sighted near Kleinmachnow was not a big cat but a wild boar.

“If you classify the video as real, like the authorities, you can see that the animal in it has a short, round head and round ears – like the head of a big cat,” Ebeling told the “Märkische Allgemeine”. “Wild boar have a long head with short, pointed ears. That would be a very mutated wild boar.” According to Ebeling, clarity will only come in the next few days. According to Ebeling, he was involved in the search for the possible predator.

A video snippet with the alleged predator had made the rounds of social networks on Thursday morning. The investigating authorities initially assessed the video as genuine and launched a large-scale search operation. According to a spokeswoman for the authorities, police officers said they had also seen a wild animal “secured”. The search was called off Friday afternoon.

When asked by “t-online”, the witness who made the video also expressed doubts that the animal he had filmed was a wild boar. “I can not imagine that.” For him, the animal still does not look like a pig.

Results of faeces and hair analyzes only on Monday

The results of an analysis of traces are expected to be available on Monday. “Unfortunately, the laboratory analysis of the hair and faeces samples secured at the first viewing point has not yet been completed, as the responsible veterinary office found out this morning,” said city spokeswoman Martina Bellack. “Unfortunately, results are not expected until Monday.” The traces had been secured at the spot near Kleinmachnow where the witness had filmed the animal during the night.
