Ski racer Kira Weidle suffered another setback at the World Cup in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

The Starnberg woman was eliminated from the descent after just over ten seconds. She lost her balance on a bump and fell, but avoided a worse fall. Visibly upset, the 2021 World Cup runner-up then hit the snow with one of her ski poles.

It’s been a complicated season for Weidle so far. She finished in the top ten in three speed races, but the 27-year-old also fell short of expectations several times. In the first downhill run in the Dolomites on Friday she came 16th.

Norwegian Ragnhild Mowinckel was in the lead after 28 starters on Saturday. After a few crashes the day before, several riders didn’t reach the finish this time either. In addition, the race had to be interrupted for a long time due to strong winds.
