Alfons Schuhbeck: Eviction action against spice shop in Munich – Munich

Are the last remnants of star chef Alfons Schuhbeck’s formerly brilliant empire now disappearing from downtown Munich? In any case, the eviction action against the “Schuhbecks Company GmbH” will be heard before the district court on Monday. It is about the postal address Platzl 4a, where the company’s spice and tea shop was last located.

The offices of the company, which has been continuing parts of Schuhbeck’s company network since 2021, have recently been there. So far, the company has not issued a statement in court. If representatives of the company do not appear at the appointment either, a default judgment will be issued – then the 586 square meter shop will be cleared.

Alfons Schuhbeck can’t get out of the negative headlines. Last year, the 73-year-old was sentenced to three years and two months in prison by the Munich Regional Court for tax evasion amounting to millions. Just on the day that the verdict was pronounced, the second and thus last termination for the property at the Platzl came. The Orlando house, in which the Company has rented three floors, belongs to the Messerschmitt Foundation.

Schuhbeck himself is no longer the boss of his company empire. He had to file for bankruptcy. An anonymous group of investors had taken over the operation of some parts of the business. In the end, only the party service and Am Platzl GmbH with the Südtiroler Stuben and Gewürze GmbH remained.

But the South Tyrolean parlors also closed, the party service has long been history, what remained was the spice and tea shop. Schuhbeck himself only functioned as an employee in the company. Which investors led the company remained unclear to this day. The managing director Günter Blitz is authorized to represent. He was not available for the SZ until Friday evening, nor was Alfons Schuhbeck himself.

“The amount in dispute was provisionally set at 333,840 euros in December 2022,” says Cornelia Kallert, spokeswoman for the district court, about the civil action brought by the Messerschmitt Foundation against Schuhbecks Company. The amount in dispute is based on the outstanding rent payments. The company has indicated that it intends to defend itself against the lawsuit, but has not justified this defense.

So it could be that the case will be called in court on Monday and, if none of the defendants are present, the judge will then issue a default judgment. Which means the spice shop needs to be cleared. So far there is nothing to read about this on the website of the online shop. There it says: “All of our spice shops will be open for you as usual in 2023.”
