After twenty hours spent in freezing water, a septuagenarian miraculously survives

We can speak of a miracle. A 71-year-old woman was found alive after spending twenty hours in the water of the Doubs, reports Progress. She had fallen into the river while returning from a walk in the forest.

The story begins Friday evening with a worrying disappearance reported to the gendarmerie of the Doubs department. After taking a walk together in the afternoon, the friends of a septuagenarian from Ain no longer have news of the latter even though she was to have dinner at their home, in a village on the border with Switzerland.

Screams from Switzerland

The gendarmes launched a search and tried to geolocate the cell phone but in vain, due to the proximity of Switzerland. It was only in the early morning that a dog from the dog brigade marked the edge of the river. The missing woman appears to have fallen into freezing water. It was only at the beginning of the afternoon that the hope of finding her alive was reborn with the testimony of a resident of the town who heard screams coming from the Swiss bank.

The septuagenarian was then rescued, found in a state of hypothermia and clinging to the branches. She explains that she fell on a path and fell into the water the day before around 6 p.m., without being able to get back up. She was evacuated to Besançon hospital for treatment.
